A major part of the use of Calcium Carbonate (PCC) is in the paper industry. The paper is made of cellulosic fiber, filled with fine particles, therefore, the use of precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) as a material to increase coating, glossiness and quality of paper, as well as print quality. PCC can be used up to 5% to 50% in paper production.
Application of Calcium Carbonate (PCC) in the paper industry
Modified PCC
The modified PCC is used for interaction in the paper-making industry with the fibers, and, like other fillers, has no problem affecting fiber-fiber interaction and joint. Surface treatment of PCC, especially modified with paper-compatible polymer-based materials, improves optical properties, increases the bonding of fibers and fillers, and improves the durability of the filler
Improving the strength properties
. Modified coated precipitated calcium carbonate (CPCC), by improving the strength properties of the paper, increasing the mechanical properties such as tensile strength, tear strength and upgrade resistance, reduced cost of the product.
